While watching the Today show I am always enticed into buying stuff from their steals and deals promotions and one day it was premium Turkish Towels. Heather here, at the time we were considering a pool and I knew they would be a fabulous addition to my back yard escape. Now fast forward a year later, our pool is finally done and I LOVE using my towels.
A peshtemal is a Turkish traditional towel used in the Turkish baths. There are many kinds of peshtamals, with different styles and colors in each local areas in Turkey. These ultra-soft and extremely absorbent towels are 100% natural cotton hand-woven on ancient looms in Turkey. The best part of these “towels” is their versatility!
First I should say how beautiful they are. They come in many colors and are usually striped or herringbone patterns. They are super light weight and are adorned with tassels along the ends.
When used as a towel they absorb water nicely but most impressive is how fast they dry. Anyone with a pool knows how wet and heavy a traditional beach towel gets and how it takes FOREVER to dry. When left in the sun these towels can be reused throughout the day. I take them to our neighborhood pool and without fail someone always asks me about them!
On those cool nights at the beach or just relaxing by the pool they are the perfect wrap or blanket. Just enough to keep the chill off.
I have also seen them make gorgeous table clothes. Since they are light and airy you can throw them on any table to dress it up. Perfect for a casual dinner or cocktails outside.
Here is the recap: lightweight, thin, highly absorbent, fast drying, easy to pack, unisex, eco friendly, durable, multi purpose use that you can take to the beach, bath, pool, spa, sauna, hammam, kitchen, massage salon and gym.
To get the best softness it is recommended to wash before use. Yes, I throw mine in washer with warm water and dry them on low/medium heat in the dryer. I have to say they get softer and more absorbent with time.
You can buy these towels many places including neimanmarcus.com, Nordstrom.com, serenaandlily.com and target.com.
