Good News! Poitín opened yesterday May 14, 2018 at 2313 Edwards St.
This past Friday, we had the chance to try out the new Poitín (named for Irish Moonshine and pronounced potcheen, poteen or potheen ). Located in the same building across the street from Holler Brewery and in the same vicinity as Silver Street Studios, this is a great new spot to dine at before or after attending events in this area. “The 9,600 -square-foot- full service restaurant and bar is the brainchild of restauranteur Ian Tucker, who last year launched Balls Out Burger in the Heights.” The dining space allows for 116 seating, and the three private dining rooms that can accommodate up to 24, 36, or 64 people. Outdoor patio opening soon with a view of the downtown skyline.
Executive Chef Dominick Lee moved to Houston from New Orleans and was previously Sous Chef at Kiran’s. As for Executive Pastry Chef Dory Fung, she was previously Head Pastry Chef at Yauatcha Sarah Cuneo. The Beverage Director had past experience at Anvil Bar & Refuge and The Pastry War.

We first started off with the char grilled oysters and the House Hummus with House Bread. The hummus is definitely a must-try! The pulled lamb neck in it is a pleasant surprise!
Next, we tried the Chef’s Choice Fish Dish and the Slow-Braised Lamb Neck with a cauliflower couscous Dish. The fish was fresh and was perfectly cooked while the lamb neck was spiced just right.
For dessert, we tried the 24 Karrot Cake and the Chocolat. The grilled pineapples in the Karrot Cake was a nice touch!
Whether for a girls night or a nice date, this is a great spot to check out for the taste, atmosphere, and location!
