Ralph Lauren launches his new Women’s Polo Line at New York Fashion Week

The story had just broken in WWD, the week NYFW began, that Ralph’s newest expansion plan included building flagship dual-gender Polo stores worldwide and he did not waste any time showing the newest collection to the  fashion crowd that plowed through a snowstorm to get to his show. On that final day of Fashion Week he surprised everyone by opening with 25 outfits from his new Women’s Polo Collection. Of course, as I mentioned in a previous post, I was not there, but always anxiously await Ralph Lauren’s collection online.  He continues to be one of my very favorites as he never disappoints year after year.  Also, for me, who spent the bulk of my career in department stores, seeing Polo in all its day-glo brights and warm southwestern patterns and fabric mixes, it felt like home. I have spent many hours merchandising, displaying and advertising these all-too-familiar looks from Ralph in year’s past for both the Polo/Lauren woman and man.  Texas women and men have always embraced Polo as well, so to all of you out there, this should be exciting news for you as well.  This collection which will be priced similar to Men’s Polo, will be available first in Polo stores, such as the new flagship opening on Fifth Ave. in Manhattan in the Fall, but I anxiously await seeing it rolled out, worldwide, starting in China and popping up in Houston, soon, I hope!
