With Memorial Day Weekend upon us, Summer is officially here. Beth here, and for us Houstonians that means it’s time to try to beat the heat by relaxing poolside. While a lot of our readers have pools of their own, sometimes we all need a little luxury in our life, so here’s our rundown of some of Houston’s best pools to chill out that won’t leave you having your very own Samantha Jones “Annabelle Bronstein” moment.
Marriott Marquis Houston, 1777 Walker Street (also the feature image)
Who hasn’t scrolled dreamily through their Instagram feed over the Texas-shaped lazy river and infinity pool at this downtown hotspot. While the hotel pool and adjacent grounds are available to guests, if you aren’t able to spring for a weekend (summer rates range from as low as $195 for a Sunday night to $379 for Saturdays) you can book a service in the hotels 5,000 square foot spa and enjoy the use of the pool areas and fitness center for the day. Add the chance to cap of the day at Chef Hugo Ortega’s Xochi and you’ve got a summer day that’s hard to beat.
The Post Oak Hotel, 1600 West Loop South
This 700,000 square foot luxury hotel in the heart of Houston’s Uptown area boasts a cityside oasis with their pool, located on the hotels ground floor. With five cabanas, over thirty lounge chairs, cocktail tables and sofas, this is one pool designed to spend the day at. Not a guest? No worries as The Post Oak Hotel offers day passes. Mondays through Thursdays you can buy a guest pass for a full day at $425 and a half day at $225. On the weekends passes run $525 for a full and $325 for a half. Sound steep? Well the price for all passes covers the pass holder and up to five additional guests which even on the full day weekend pass comes out to less than $100 bucks a day to indulge your inner pool goddess all day long.
Hotel Zaza, 5701 S Main Street and 9787 Katy Freeway
Although they used to offer day passes for the pool, Hotel Zaza has tightened up a bit on the use of their lush pool settings. That said, much like the Marriott Marquis above, a treatment at the spa can get you a chaise lounge at The Beach Club Memorial City location and the Museum District location. If you want more than just the day, The Zaza is offering a “Sun Rays & Bubbly Days” poolside package at both Houston locations. Prices vary so be sure to call or check their online reservations system.
The Four Seasons, 1300 Lamar
The pool at the downtown Four Seasons is designed for relaxation. From the city views to the bohemian décor with wooden decks and ample lush seating to the fire pit and Saturday movie nights, there is a little something for everyone. The Four Season’s has one heck of a summer deal as well. Mondays through Thursday’s from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm guests can enjoy day passes for as low as $60 a day (with amenities like hourly treats) or reserve cabanas for up to four guests with one cocktails and fresh fruit bowl per person for $350 a day.
If none of these watery urban retreats fit the bill, word has it the El Segundo Swim Club is still slated to open later this summer. We don’t have the details yet, but Annabelle Bronstein might.
