When a coveted Michael Hsu-designed restaurant space opened up in Boulevard Oaks at the corner of Bissonnet and Shepherd, neighbors and friends highly encouraged restauranteur and nearby resident Molly Voorhees to jump on the opportunity! However, Molly, who is President of Becks Prime and The Chocolate Bar, knew she wanted this neighborhood spot to be different, so she turned to her longtime friend and excellent home cook, Carolyn Dorros, Executive Vice President of Wolff Companies, to partner in opening this neighborhood restaurant concept.
The duo decided to open Agnes, an all-day café and boutique grocery, to serve their favorite dishes, inspired by Mediterranean flavors from Spain, France, and Turkey. The fine-casual space will offer indoor and outdoor dining with counter service during the day for delicious pastries, breakfast, and lunch as well as an altered ambiance at night for seated dinners. Influenced by their favorite restaurants and cuisines around the world, Agnes will be first-and-foremost a gathering place for neighbors to catch up over coffee or hard-to-find wines, incredible food, and top-notch service.
As a nearby resident, I am personally very excited for this new culinary addition to the neighborhood! With support from the Becks Prime team, known for their excellence and consistency for decades, we expect Agnes to exceed all expectations of neighborhood dining in the area that has been yearning something that fits this exact description.
In addition to the all-day café, the 2,225-square foot restaurant interior and 500-foot patio designed by Sean Garrison and Levi Lemaster of Garrison Design Office will also include a grocery retail space carrying a small selection of provisions, hostess gifts, freshly made grab-and-go items, and baked goods, among others.
Agnes is scheduled to open in early June at 2132 Bissonnet in the space formerly occupied by Tropicales. We will keep you posted on the restaurant’s progress and look forward to sharing more details!
