Nanette Lepore Brings Spring to Houston

Nanette Lepore at Neiman Marcus Fashion Show for Recipe for Success wearing one of my favorites from her collection…aqua blue embroidery over netting

Modern Romanticism was the theme of Nanette Lepore’s Spring 2014 Collection which she brought to town for a Neiman Marcus personal appearance and trunk show that coincided with the latest installment of the Dress for Dinner series for Recipe for Success. For many it was a double-dose of Nanette as she charmed the evening crowd with a runway presentation for RFS and was back the next day to chat with us and show her collection to her many Houston fans that have followed this sportswear mavens career over a couple of decades.

About the collection:  The clothes were all about romantic dressing done in a modern way. There was a new freshness in softer, easy silhouettes that had a graceful movement thanks to her use of natural fabrics.  Some favorites of mine were her wispy bias-cut long slip dress in a beautiful poppy red, as well as her blush colored embroidered maxi dress. Her pops of color were certainly the Poppy, but also Daffodil yellow and a beautiful aqua blue, all of these colors best seen alone or in a signature print that she used throughout her collection, including her accessories, which the designer says she actually re-colored as an exclusive for Neiman Marcus.  It should also be noted that it was not all about feminine, flowy dresses…there were many sharply tailored wear-to-work items such as a  white leather jacket that would wake up any existing workwear!
