Monique Lhuillier Spring 2015 NYFW Runway Show
As I felt I was overloading my readers with Spring 2015 New York Fashion Week coverage, I decided to punch the pause button for awhile and find appropriate timing for reporting to you some of the remaining collections that I saw and loved in New York. Monique Lhuillier was one of those. Knowing that TOOTSIES was planning a Trunk Show, which is happening this Thursday and Friday, October 23,24, I thought how much better for my readers than to be able to read it here and touch and feel it live at Tootsies. So here you go…. some highlights of this very memorable and lovely Monique Lhuillier Spring 2015 runway show in NYC.
About the Collection
As Monique has mastered the art of the beautiful evening gown and shows that in this collection as well, she made a concentrated effort for Spring 2015 to focus a little more than usual on daywear for her clients. This collection, inspired by a trip she made to the Bahamas, where she says to Style.com, “When the sun rose over the ocean the sky turned beautiful shades of blush and lavender and there was this reflective quality to the water. I wanted to instill that sparkle into every piece.” She did just that thru her use of deliciously soft colors and a new usage of tech fabrics like the liquid satin on select pieces. She did quite a few separates again, (I loved her ball gown skirt with pockets) that she has done a few seasons now. Of course, her separates were formal and/or garden party in feel and not to be confused as casual as we might think. The evening gowns had two of the significant trends that I found on the NYFW runways……off-the-shoulder, which was everywhere for both evening and daytime wear and secondly, one of my favorite trend ideas that looked so new and fresh was the use of tulle skirting over solidly beaded dresses and/or separates. I loved this look and she did it beautifully. Another fashion tidbit that is catching on across a lot of collections(MRG story to come soon) for both day and night is the use of pockets in dresses and love them in long ball gown skirts and Monique was one of the first that did that…..got to put that cell phone somewhere nice ‘n handy to take all of those photos you want to take!!
You should try to get by TOOTSIES over these next couple of days to see the collection, as it is truly diverse and beautiful, as Monique Lhuillier can be so well!
