For Fall/Winter 2016 Monique Lhuillier took a few risks and had some fun on the runway. She is a pro at knowing how to mix it all, making it all come together and looking both sophisticated and young.
Some examples as you will see below show her throwing a cashmere menswear coat over a blush embroidered gown. She used her fair share of embellishments, showed dressed up sporty separates and her pants came in a metallic floral high-waisted cropped pants.
Although her lineup was full of inventive mixing and layering of separates, more than I can recall her doing ever, her dresses were still stunning and did not disappoint. She has always been someone who cherished lace, back from her bridal days but for the last two seasons has embraced the lace trend with the luxurious ‘guipure lace’, a beautifully textured lace that takes well to color that she spoke to me about when we chatted on her last Houston visit in November.
I like the fun she had with the collection. She showed us she could be whimsical but still be very, very pretty!
