It is HOT out. Julie here today, and I was away all last week, and let me just tell you, the humidity was not shy in welcoming me home. Even though it’s not technically summer if we’re looking at a calendar, it’s most certainly summer in my book. When this scorching season comes around, I shed layers. Shorts and lightweight tops or dresses are pretty much what you’ll see me in over the next few months. Another part of my summer wardrobe, which is a fun element, would be fashion scarves. Before you jump the gun and tell me I’m contradicting myself by saying I like to wear scarves when I just said I like to lose the layers, let me continue. I’m talking the most lightweight breezy scarves that don’t add any extra heat to your outfit, and are a stylish way to spruce up an otherwise more basic summer ensemble. Enter: Manoosh.
You may remember last year on the blog when we introduced the new (at that time) accessories and gift brand, created by three generations of women, Marilyn Biles, her daughter Nancy Guthrie, and Nancy’s daughter-in-law, Anna Wilson. Manoosh, however; is not just your average brand. The line is full of lightweight scarves that feature the work of local artists. How neat is that?! They bring the artwork out of the galleries and into everyday life, in the form of these most fabulous scarves.
Their Spring 2015 Collection is out and ready for you to peruse. The fabric of choice is chiffon, and it’s lightweight, breezy, and elegant. With a hand-rolled hem, the assortment is full of both bright color combinations, as well as an abstract American flag graphic design (our personal favorite…perfect for the 4th of July coming up next month). And the artistic force behind this new collection is internationally acclaimed abstract painter and Houston resident, Marilyn Biles, and Oregon-based graphic designer, Robert Erickson.
These scarves are ideal for the warmer months, and we are so excited about this collection. See the entire line here.
