Julie Bortnick here, and let me tell you…when I heard that there was a ‘plastic’ shoe store making its way to town, I had immediate flash backs of the time I went to summer camp when I was 10 and wore purple jelly shoes to go swimming in the lake, and then I lost one at the bottom of the lake and was seemingly devastated. However, folks, Melissa’s ‘plastic’ shoes are not reminiscent of my summer camp days; they are fashionable, fabulous, and in collaboration with the one and only Karl Lagerfeld.
The Melissa brand has been around for almost 40 years, all across the globe, and many celebs have taken a liking (a loving really) to this odorless, hypoallergenic, and neutral thermoplastic line of shoes. They are the world’s most comfortable shoes, by far, and now they have been taken to the next level (still with the incredible price point).
Karl Lagerfeld designed a collection for Melissa, which launched earlier this year. Flats and heels, all in beautiful colors, make up this capsule collection, and we are loving it.
You may be familiar with Melissa’s former collborations, such as Vivienne Westwood, Jason Wu, and Campanas (where the ever so famous flat resides as well as the sling backs with metal hearts, balls, and other unique ornamentations) to name a few. These are all still there, and many of them re-colored in the newest hues. However, the same comfortable shoes that we all love to wear when we know we are going to be standing on hard surfaces for many hours have not gone away and are the true beauty of all of Melissa’s shoes…..fashion and comfort, particularly in heels, are hard to come by these days!
