The time is fast approaching to see Jonathan Blake’s newest apparel collection for Fall 2014. RSVP’s are coming in fast for April 2 at the Omni Hotel and the anticipation is great to see what Houston’s own, designer, Jonathan Tinkle has created for his Jonathan Blake Collection. Well, we couldn’t wait to see it all so Jonathan gave us a sneak peak walk-through at David Peck’s studio where all of the garments are made. It was certainly a treat for us and we left there convinced that this is truly Jonathan’s best collection to date.
The theme of the collection is “Sophisticated Edginess”. To quote the designer, “the inspiration behind the collection is women who have secrets.” Women who may be understated by day but have an edgy side that comes out when they want to let go and have some fun. It’s for a woman that wants a chic, glam look that will get her noticed….classic but modernized is the style.
The collection is made up of 50 pieces that include luxurious furs such as Sable, Mink, Ermine and many others that have been sourced from around the globe. There is much leather from the best skins in the world, due to an agreement that Jonathan made with the Hermes tannery….his croco, gator and ostrich are from the same sources used for Hermes bags. (everyone knows how I feel about Hermes, right….#1 on my bucket list, simply the finest!)
Below is just a sampler of some of the pieces that I felt were designed with me in mind (I wish!). There were so many that we loved but honestly wanted to save the most dramatic and over-the-top pieces for the show’s audience. The great news, this season, is that all of the samples will be available at Jonathan Blake Atelier with myself and Jonathan there to personally assist you in finding just the perfect outfit for you or at the very least for you to be able to touch and feel these luxe garments for yourself and take a closer look! (details below)
Here are some of our sneak peaks for you……
I am crazy about oversized outerwear coats as anyone that follows me knows. This Nude wool melton coat w/brown leather piping over maroon (could pass as brown) sheath dress was one of the first pieces I pulled from the racks. Coats over dresses…..so fashion right!
Midnight blue lamb suede moto jacket with crocodile trim. Styled the way I like it with black (love the sophistication of navy/black combo). Black leather pencil skirt, basic for all.
Red diamond stitched cropped jacket with Canadian Sable collar…shown here with black wool satin gabardine trouser; to give it an edgier, more casual feel, wear with a great pair of denim or black jeans with a white tee!
Luscious hand-embroidered metallic lace fabric from Italy made this beautifully tailored blazer jacket, shown with satin wool gab pant. (This fabric is used in many beautiful ways throughout the collection…..look for unusual pieces made with this fabric and used as mixed media with other fabrics or made special when combined with mink!)
This look had my name all over it….mainly because I fell in love with that leather and fur bolero jacket that could be a must have to wear over strapless day or evening dresses and tops. I’ve been tiring of pashminas and am always looking for alternatives and this could just be it! The green diamond pattern stitch is a fitted, strapless sheath that’s knee to floor length is all about sheer….a look that continues all over the runways!
This navy strapless lambskin dress is perfect for day into evening. Another mixed media piece, that could become a JB signature, this slim pencil skirt of the dress is made of softer-than-cashmere wool melton. A wear everywhere dress for sure! (bolero over this!)
Similar dress in reverse of above….navy leather boatneck sheath with wool melton insets. Note: Navy lizard top handle bag from Jonathan Blake introductory handbag collection.
JONATHAN BLAKE HANDBAG COLLECTION LAUNCH
These handbags are very special in that they are all hand-made in the U.S.A., California specifically from the same rare skins used in the apparel collection. The smallest clutch take 8 hours to be made and the largest 24-36 hours per bag. Lining of each bag is 100% authentic suede. Each of these bags has a special story about the fabric, styling or design. They will be seen for the first time on April 2 on the Fashion Runway.
I hope to see you all at the trunk show and help you select some fabulous JB pieces for the upcoming season. Walk ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred, as we know how precious everyone’s time is.
Hi there, You have done a great job. I’ll certainly digg it and personally recommend to my friends. I’m sure they’ll be benefited from this website.
