Houston’s most fashionable luncheon proved once again that a little rain can’t dampen style—or generosity! Hats in the Park, Hermann Park Conservancy’s signature spring event, returned for its 17th year on March 27, 2025, and not only did it bring together some of Houston’s most stylish philanthropists, but it also set a new attendance record, drawing 590 guests and raising an impressive $550,000 for the ongoing care and improvement of Hermann Park.
A Stylish Affair, Rain or Shine

Co-chairs Carolyn Sabat, Brooke Bentley Gunst, and Holly Radom orchestrated a stunning event in the ever-picturesque McGovern Centennial Gardens, where guests sipped champagne and mingled amid the lush spring blooms. The afternoon’s elegant alfresco lunch, catered by City Kitchen, took place under a grand tent, creating the perfect setting for a day dedicated to both fashion and philanthropy.

Hermann Park Conservancy’s board chair, Roslyn Bazzelle Mitchell, set the tone for the afternoon, emphasizing the significance of the community’s support. “Your presence here today speaks volumes,” she noted. “Thanks to your generous support, we are shaping Hermann Park’s future with projects like the amazing Commons and continued enhancements throughout the Park.”
Honoring Dedication to Hermann Park
This year’s honorees, Katie Arnoldy and Brittany Sakowitz Kushner, shared heartfelt remarks about their connection to Hermann Park. As former chairs of the Conservancy’s beloved Kite Festival, the duo has played an integral role in fostering community engagement with the Park. “When you step into Hermann Park, it is quintessentially Houston. There is simply no place like it,” Katie remarked. Both honorees expressed their deep appreciation for the Park as a place of refuge, community, and connection, underscoring why continued investment in its future is so vital.
A Celebration of Generosity
Hermann Park Conservancy president & CEO Cara Lambright closed out the afternoon with a message of gratitude and vision for the Park’s future. “Your support ensures that Hermann Park remains a place of beauty, of joy, of discovery, of equity, of access. It keeps it a place for everyone,” she said. “Together, we are not just preserving the past, but we are building the future as we work towards completing the master plan over the next 10 years.” Special thanks were also extended to PaperCity Magazine for serving as the official media sponsor and to City Kitchen for their event support.
