Why We Are Liking Grey This Fall
Grey is a color that is hot on everyone’s minds this year and it’s not just about Fashion…..THE Book that is about to become a Movie, could possibly be the designer’s inspiration…..not for me to say?! Just know that starting last Fall, Grey has become the growing “neutral of choice” for many of the stylish sophisticates. When checking with Pantone, the people that give us the color names for each season and tell us what colors should dominate our wardrobes, they have said that “Turbulence”, their word for a charcoal-hued grey, is a word that has double-meaning in this jet-setting airplane-frequent world we live in. It was Ralph Lauren, who did a beautiful Fall collection dominated by Grey, who said, his collection was about a”pure kind of luxury, a sophisticated ease”, which is what luscious grey cashmere knits mean to me. Restrained and subdued, it has been considered the wardrobe palette cleanser of the season…..I like that!
How to Wear It
For me, I think Grey is its most luscious worn tonally from the deepest charcoal to a silvery metallic or even more subdued in a soft, dove tone. I think there is nothing better than Grey head to toe. However, if mixing it up a little is your preference, first choice for me would be with other neutrals….with black, white, or camel. Also, love it as the partner to a pop of Red, Blue or Mustard Yellow. Grey is definitely the color, like its companions that surround it on either side, black or white, can work well with just about any color in your wardrobe and in any silhouette…..I’m loving it the most as a great topcoat for Fall.
