More than 600 American Heart Association supporters packed the Hilton Americas grand ballroom, where ladies in red enjoyed gratis health screenings and perused the “Go Red” marketplace. (Among the goods were Judith Ripka jewels, children’s clothes from Itsy Bitsy Boutique and custom accessories by Kelly Kathleen Designs.)
There was “purseanality” to spare, as local celebs including Roseann Rogers, Sue Smith and Jan Carsondonated pocketbooks filled with their favorite things (from bath salts to Hollywood Tape to skincare regimes) for auction.
Singer/songwriter Steve Tyrell, in a cherry-colored Prada button-down, congratulated his sister Roz Pactor after she received the AHA guild volunteer of the year honor. Actress Christine Baranski (TheGood Wife, Cybill,Mamma Mia and Birdcage) enthralled the audience with the story of her family’s heart disease experience and a message about eating right and exercising. She’s an avid yogi and loves protein-packed smoothies — although she’s also enjoyed a brewski at West Alabama Ice House and eaten lunch at Tiny Boxwood. (Her daughter attends law school at the University of Houston.)
