Feed Millions in Style….Feed+Target Goal = 10 million Meals

For many, such as myself, following Lauren Bush Lauren’s journey to feed the Hungry of the World, since she first became the spokesperson for the U.N. World Food Program in 2004 and then began creating her famous FEED Bags in 2006, there is a feeling of

pride at the enormous brand of products that she has produced and the enormous good that she has accomplished. She has added her sense of style and fashion not only through the products that FEED Project designs and produces, but through collaborations from Clarins beauty to Judith Leiber bags and on a limited scale with retailers such as Whole Foods, Gap, Pottery Barn and others.

However, this, her latest effort is her largest and has a different twist for both she and the retailer that she has joined forces with.  Lauren, who has fed millions around the world, has joined forces with Target to create 50 products that’s focus on a non-profit called Feeding America which operates over 200 food banks across our country. This project will spotlight the hunger problems in America.  For more info on the many wonderful, stylish items that FEED Project has to offer to all consumer, visit their site, FEED Projects.com.

About the Collection:

As the kickoff to “Back to College” prep for Target, products have been aimed at the Millennial, college-age student who has grown up recycling and are a very cause sensitive group. The collection covers several product categories from clothing to accessories, home, stationary and more.  All items range in price from $3 to $400 (bike), a personal fave of LBL, as she rides her bike daily in Manhattan. Items are stenciled with both the FEED logo + lists the number of meals served through the purchase of that item.

Target and Lauren looked for simple items (different than their designer capsule approaches of the past) that were symbolic of America. American products that feed America’s hungry. Denim shirts, another favorite of hers, basic shorts, baseball caps and backpacks are some of the items.

The theme for this collection is Modern Americanism.  One of my favorite parts of the collection was found in the Home Store. Products found there are very patriotic in theme.  From melamine tableware to gingham and star patterned casserole dishes with red trim,  stenciled decorative pillows and warm, cozy army-surplus-like-blankets.  All very, very cleverly styled and something that you would definitely want to have in your homes!

Before writing about this newest and largest FEED/Target offering I visited my local Target to check out the product quantities and selection and found sufficient quantities, dominant in each category of the store.  As Lauren Bush Lauren has been quoted as saying, “Target has such a large reach that FEEDS Project doesn’t have. So it’s wonderful when we can partner with Target to really just blow-out and have such a big impact in a short amount of time.”

Targets goal is to provide 10 Million Meals through its contribution of 10% of retail sales to FEED…..please help them do this.  Remember $1 spent = 8 meals or 1.2 lbs. of food and the product really does look great and there is plenty of it.  Best of luck to Lauren and to Target to make this happen for the Hungry of America!

  1. I’m already enjoying the denim shirt and the cool hoodie.
What a fabulous cause and wonderful way to contribute.

  2. Glad you liked it…..it is such a great cause. I was in a hurry and only bought a baseball cap but I need a new denim shirt and I’m wild for the home products……too cute!
