Image: Who What Wear
It’s been happening for a while, but now it’s very real that graphic tees are having a statement-making makeover. It’s true that the individualization of fashion, meaning making it cool to express yourself through what you wear, could not be more evident than in the return of the graphic t-shirt.
It all began with Louis Vuiton making a statement of logo tees in their Fall 2015 runway show and it hasn’t stopped yet. Seeing the street-wise fashion savvy gals wearing these tees during various fashion weeks registered clearly that fashion was taking a hip, cool, casual spin. It’s saying that looking good does not need to be complicated any more and not necessarily just about head-to-toe designer, but It’s all about the high/low styling that makes it new. It makes total fashion sense to wear a vintage logo, a quirky slogan or even a famous band tee, which has really become a classic now, and putting it with an a pencil skirt, under a classic blazer or adding a Gucci loafer or a favorite stiletto.
The one thing that is clear is that those graphic tees on the bottom of your drawer that you were only wearing maybe to the gym or to run household tasks are back in fashion, bigger than ever! Here’s a dose of graphic tee inspiration that we think you’ll love (we do!!), along with some you can shop right here from MRG!

Hi Roz!
I’m sure there was a day when no one thought they would see ‘Louis Vuiton’ and ‘tees’ in the same sentence. 🙂
I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on the individualization of fashion movement that you allude to here. I believe it is gearing up to be more of a powerful, generational-spanning ‘trend’ than that of a few seasons. What do you think?
Thanks!

Sorry Janine, just noticed that I never replied!? I do think the ‘individualization’ of fashion is a movement that is here to stay, at least for awhile. Modern women of all ages are much more independent thinkers, more confident in knowing what they like and what works for them and their style. They no longer wait for designers to tell them how to dress. I do love the open expression that these graphic tees, returning to the fashion scene, have brought to fashion. Makes it so much more fun to get dressed ‘down’ to go out!
