On Wednesday evening I had the pleasure of not only attending an event, but also strutting my stuff all over their runway! And where did this all happen? Athleta at Town and Country – this special event was showcasing their new Derek Lam Collection. The whole point and desire of this collection is to bring sports attire into your everyday life and make it fashionable! The collection is full of versatile pieces, especially for the busy ladies running from the office to gym to dinners or events.

This is Athleta’s first designer fashion collaboration and each piece is truly beautiful. It has pushed Athleta to be more fashion forward, upscale and more desirable for the everyday customer.  You can see the main collection from my event pictures; they have actual work out pieces and then a variety of shorts, joggers and jackets for your after work out look. Each piece can be matched with another in different ways, from colour blocking; to plain colours (if you aren’t looking to be so obvious when working out!) to bright vibrant patterns. My favorite items are their khaki tight leggings and cashmere sweaters. The 38-piece collection made its lookbook debut in July – I have been eyeing it up ever since.

It’s only recently I have been appreciating gym clothes opposed to pulling on my husband’s old tees and shorts. The Derek Lam collection will allow you to strut your moves and not be shy to parade your comfortable outfits around town! Some of the pieces are definitely investment items – the collection ranges from $68 tops to $450+ leather items, but it’s quality items.

Certainly this collaboration for me feels really positive; it incorporates pieces I would wear comfortably outside the gym. I put together an outfit with my new additions (come on you should all know me by now, I couldn’t possibly go to an event and not make a couple of purchases!), consisting of the khaki leggings, black wrap sweater (which can be paired with Kurt Geiger Neon Yellow heels) and a gold necklace for an example of going from the gym to drinks!
