One of the positive things about times like these is the calling for people to come together and do what they can to make a difference. Beauty is becoming such a vital industry in our modern world and many are predicting that it will be one of the mainstays surviving and going forward. It is no longer made up of ‘frivolous’ products but is recognized as something that can be used to make people feel better while looking better and that’s a good thing for the spirit!

While watching the Today Show this week I was taken by an interview that Samantha Guthrie had with spokesperson Drey Barrymore, founder of Flower Beauty. I listened intently and loved the idea and of their goal to give essential products to first responders as well as raising $10 million in small donations (they have currently raised in excess of $7M) through a GoFundMe to support Frontline Responders with PPE, Personal Protective Equipment.

It all started just a few weeks ago when BeautyCon founder, Moj Mahdara, put together a group of fellow beauty founders for this cause. Zanna Roberts Rassi, co-founder of Milk Makeup was one of those members. She said on the Today Show that the founders came together to create something “forward facing, because it is so powerful. That is how BeautyUnited was born.

Each of the brands recently sent 2,000 products to the Javits Center in NYC where a temporary hospital has been set up and is the home of the annual beauty convention in that city.

The BeautyUnited founders are also taking care of local doctors there in NYC as well, that are being housed in hotels while staying away from their families, with personal care items. They are also working with such big brands as Dove, Revlon and Unilever to provide more products and hopefully in near future maybe even help fund salons and individuals that may need it in various communities.

I encourage all to check out their website (http://beautyunited.org)
