Spring is here and what better way to welcome it to Houston, than with Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park. This art festival will take place over the weekend of March 24-26, 2017. There will be over 300 artists in 19 different medias, as well as food trucks, beverages, music, and more! As for the little ones, there will be a Children’s Creative Zone so this would a great opportunity to bring the entire family out for some fun and a chance to appreciate different types of artworks!
This year’s featured artist is Amanda Bennett, a mixed media artist from New Orleans, Louisiana. She has early recollection of painting as a child with her grandmother, whose easel now serves as an inspiration for her to create her wonderful masterpieces.
General admission tickets are available at the gate for $15 per adult. They are also available for purchase online at a discounted price of $12 per adult and $5 per child (6-12 years old). Children 5 and under are free. This event is open to the general public, however pets are not allowed ( except for service animals with proper ID). As for ATMS and Portable restroom facilities, they will be available for use.
The Bayou City Art Festival is organized by Art Colony Organization, a non-profit organization. Every year, they go to great lengths to provide an educational and unique art experience for the Houston community by allowing various artists to come together and showcase their work at these festivals. Proceeds benefits the festivals’ nonprofit partners. In the past 45 years, they have raised 3.5 million dollars in supporting local nonprofit organizations.
The following are just a few of the candid shots from last year that shows what a fun time can be had by all……..
I want to go!
I want to go! I think it’d be a great way to spend time with my sister and my nieces!
This sounds awesome! I’d like to see and support local artists
Photos of this event look so amazing! I’ve never attended before, which is why I’d love to go. Also, my mom, sister, and brother are visiting me in Houston from Boston this weekend, and I thought this would be a perfect thing to take them to. (Plus I think it’ll be a great change from the northeast weather for them!)
Thanks for this opportunity and the info on the event!
My 8yr old daughter is a natural at creating beautiful art and I am trying to expose her to all different types of artworks and creations at this time. We have never been there so it would be great to take her and enjoy the art and get inspired!
