The Heights’ White Linen Night Celebrates its 10th Anniversary this Saturday night….if you’ve never been, don’t miss Houston’s own unique ‘Art Happening’
This event, which was started in 2006, by a Katrina couple, who had an idea from their New Orleans home, collaborated with the Heights First Saturday group on this event to draw some traffic on a hot summer night, to the 19th Street merchants. It has evolved and grown as the Heights has grown to become a neighborhood-wide party night to celebrate local art. It was modeled after an event that took place in the French Quarter Arts District that brought everyone out in their most crisp white linen to celebrate local artists. The expansion from a 19th street happening to now include White Oak, Heights Blvd., Yale, Studewood and 11th St is a great night of fun with a chic feel to it that only an all-white evening can bring!
Every year the participants grow, the sponsorships grow, the crowds have definitely grown and the amount that is going on is too much to list here. You should visit their site: http://www.theheightswhitelinennight.com/activities.html and see what to expect. Warning: the crowds have grown so you are best served to plan a little ahead and check out online what is going on and have some idea where you are headed…..trust me, you will find many great, artful distractions along the way!
