Francene back again today chatting about the ‘It’ bag of the season. It is one that has been around for years, and has been interpreted by just about every designer at every price level. However, according to Business of Fashion, it is THE bag right now (Mansur Gavriel’s, in particular).

The bucket bag will guide you into the summer months since drawstring bags are casual in nature, this is an easy handbag trend to get behind for the season. You will find yourself reaching for this handbag almost every day, for work or play. This bag is hitting up shops available in a range of colours, including neutral shades such as black and tan (after carrying out research I have my eye on a tan version) lined with vibrant hues.

The best thing about this bag compared to other bags is its huge capacity. If your bag is similar to Mary Poppin’s filled with not only daily essentials but just life essentials then this bag will be ideal! It’s a universal item, comes in so many styles, colours and textures, small and large in size. It’s a great alternative to a tote. My favorite style is quilted, very Chanel-esque without the price tag of course!

Mulberry has the most gorgeous rich colours, as well as Alexander Wang who are pulling out all the stops in regards to texture, design and size. One of my favorite bag designers Moshino has given a bright rendition to the bucket/drawstring bag with their symbolic gold lettering. Neiman Marcus and Saks have the latest releases from all the top designers including Gucci and Marc Jacobs. And our talented neighbor, Presmer, also has a slick version of this.

One of the big handbag trends for the past several seasons has been the drawstring handbag. For spring 2015, designers have gone full steam ahead and created several versions of the drawstring handbag and bucket bag for the warm weather months. This is definitely the “IT” handbag style of the spring 2015 season; as well as the summer 2015 season.

Milly has a smaller version with fringe detailing, very in this season. I know my next purchase will be a tanned bag, and I have found one at a great price at Urban Outfitters. If you are looking to add this new addition to your wardrobe take a glance at ASOS and Macys.  Zara is one of the first shops I head to when I’m looking for a purchase fix, and they haven’t disappointed with their design either.

In closing….if you’re going to invest in any accessory item this year, this should absolutely be THE handbag.
