Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve—And Make It Red!

February Heart Month Has Arrived

February is here, and with it comes a cause that’s near and dear to our hearts—American Heart Month. And what better way to kick things off than with National Wear Red Day next Friday, February 7, 2025. It’s time to pull out your favorite red pieces—not just for fashion’s sake, but to make a statement about women’s heart health!

Why Wear Red?

For over 20 years, the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement has been raising awareness about heart disease, the #1 killer of women. The statistics are staggering—1 in 3 women dies from cardiovascular disease. But here’s the good news: 80% of cardiac events in women are preventable with education, lifestyle changes, and research. That’s why this movement is so important.

National Wear Red Day is more than just a splash of color—it’s a moment to educate, advocate, and take action. When we wear red, we stand together, making it clear that women’s heart health matters!

How You Can Get Involved

Whether you’re stepping out in a red power suit, a bold red lip, or a classic red dress, there are so many ways to participate in Go Red for Women:

🩷 Wear Red & Share – Show your support by wearing red and sharing your look on social media with #WearRedDay and #GoRedforWomen.

💖 Donate & Fundraise – Help fund life-saving research and education programs by donating or starting your own fundraiser. You can easily set up a personal fundraising page here.

❤️ Know the Risks – Take a moment to learn about heart disease symptoms in women, which can differ from men. Educate yourself and your loved ones!

💃 Shop for a Cause – The American Heart Association has a fabulous Go Red for Women store where every purchase supports the cause. Think red pins, t-shirts, and more!

🥂 Attend a Go Red Event – Many cities host luncheons, fundraisers, and awareness events—check your local listings!

A Red Moment That Matters

Over the years, I’ve loved seeing how this movement has grown. Every February, my inbox floods with Go Red events, fundraisers, and inspiring survivor stories. It’s a powerful reminder that women’s heart health is a conversation we need to keep having. Heart disease affects mothers, sisters, friends, and daughters—and with small changes, we can make a big impact.

So this Friday, join me and the My Red Glasses community in wearing red, making noise, and supporting this lifesaving cause. Because when women stand together, change happens.

Are you planning to Go Red this Friday? Drop a comment or tag us in your red looks—we’d love to see them!
