Temps are well into the high 90s (at least here in Houston they are) and if it were appropriate, I would stay in a swimsuit till September! Sadly, laying by the pool isn’t my day job. It’s Alyssa here chatting with you about my top 10 styling tips for keeping cool this summer without compromising your standards, i.e., wearing as little clothes as possible.
1. Layer (smartly).
Bring a light sweater or jacket for your freezing cold office, but stay away from anything with an extra lining. Layer a bandeau or lace bralette under revealing tank tops to stay cool, yet covered. It is easy to take layers off, but you cant add any that you don’t have!Source: Bloglovin/Pop Miss
2. Refresh your denim.
If you love jeans as much as I do, it is hard to give them up when temps soar. But, tight jeans in the summer are a no-no. Try a denim skirt or a cute chambray shift dress!

3. Change up your work wardrobe.
Experiment a little – try a short suit or an unexpected silhouette! For those of you in a conservative work environment, hemlines are still important. If you go sleeveless, opt for a longer skirt, and vice versa. A rule of thumb (for everyone!!)- if you can wear it to the beach or gym, don’t wear it to the office.

4. Play up your accessories.
Accessories are a great way to add polish to a simple summer outfit. Layer your jewelry, add a belt, or pull back your hair with a scarf.

5. Stick to whites and brights (colors that is).
Dark colors absorb the most light (heat). Grey and light blue show sweat the most, gross. Now is a good time to invest in some summer whites!

6. Your feet are important!
Invest in a comfy summer shoe, they will go a long way. An open toe block heel and flatform are great choices. Let your feet breathe!

7. Hats are your friend.
Bring shade with you wherever you go!

8. Breathable fabric is key to any summer outfit.
Go for cotton and linen, and avoid polyester or other clingy fabrics (for good reason).

9. When in doubt, go with a flowy dress.
Something you can just throw on and go – enjoy the breeze!

10. Wear sunscreen!
Ok, not necessarily a styling tip, but it is definitely the first thing you should put on before you leave the house. Sunburns are not a good accessory!
