Stripes are a pattern that will never go out of style. And these days it’s not just about stripes in fashion, but also stripes in home decor and beyond. Francene is here today to talk all things striped. Take it away!
Stripes forever…freshen them up this season by contrasting the stripes or mixing them with other patterns
Francene here having a chat with you all this weekend on My Red Glasses. My fave fashion idea this week is all about Stripes and how to make them look newest this Spring/Summer. First of all, I must say that coming from a nautical background, I will always have a fondness and love of stripes. I love the classic blue and white striped look, like this new collection of MDS, Mark Sikes Stripe Collection just introduced this season. I also love stripes played against contrasting pieces or accessories.
When paired with the right pieces, stripes can really enhance your figure and keep you looking on trend. Stripes work with not only solid pieces, but they look fabulous when partnered with prints and contrasting stripes. A vertically striped blouse looks great with white trousers or jeans, too. Vertically striped pants or skirts can make you look taller and in style when worn with a solid-colored tee. For dresses, avoid horizontal stripes that widen your shape – unless you have a boyish figure and need to create some curves.
Great ideas seen from designers such as Michael Kors – they have a gorgeous bag collection along with Kate Spade. I recently purchased a bag from Kate Spade and it has been my go to handbag since it arrived, as it’s perfect for work wear to occasion dressing to cocktails!
My favorite design shape and dress in this print was seen on the runway, Oscar de la Renta.
If you are not brave enough to wear stripes in apparel, then you can express your love of this trend through nail design or jewelry.
For me, and I’m sure you can tell from the title of my blog I’m a big lover of heels, and this is how I normally express myself, building my outfit from the ground up. I have a couple of pairs of striped heels which always get huge compliments.
Stripes are most certainly not just for apparel and accessories. Stripes in the home are very stylish and beautiful, whether on the walls, bedding, pillows, or anywhere else.
Planning a wedding or a party and looking for ideas? Don’t just stick with the normal block colours; mix in patterns or stripes! I love this ribbon around the wedding cake and tying this in with the flowers looks beautiful. It could also be a good theme for a baby shower with blue or pink stripes!
Bottom line, stripes are here and they are not going anywhere anytime soon. Even for those who don’t love to wear prints or patterns, stripes are a classic, timeless way to incorporate an on trend and ever so stylish element.
