Francene is back today giving us the scoop on a big trend for spring outerwear. We’re loving sleeveless coats oh so much, so let’s get into it!
Welcome to the in-between spring and summer weather, where some days it’s breezy, other days it’s boiling hot and then the next day it’s unexpected rain showers (or storms as we have been experiencing here in Houston!) This can be a confusing time for us ladies to ensure we are fully prepared for any type of conditions when we leave our homes and embark on our day ahead. Thankfully, we have been blessed with a new updated and very clever answer to the jackets we have worn for many seasons…..that answer is the fast growing trend, the sleeveless coat or jacket, depending on your length preference.
The sleeveless coat has been a growing trend over the past few seasons. In the fall and winter seasons, capes and sleeveless jackets were a huge hit on the street in all fabrications from sweater knit to wool to even fur as a layering piece for added warmth. As temperatures start to rise, and we move into spring, the trend has evolved into sleeveless jackets and vests, worn primarily alone or with light underpinnings.
The sleeveless jacket and vest trend is a great way to elevate an otherwise ordinary work outfit, or casual ensemble, into a modern, on-trend masterpiece! You can top off jeans and a cute top, or tee-shirt; giving the look instant polish. This trend can also take a pair of black or white, office appropriate trousers or skirts, paired with a top or shirt, to a whole new level. As women have been experimenting more with wearing Jackets over dresses, the Sleeveless jacket over a dress is both appropriate and very stylish for work or to lunch. It is the ideal alternative to a blazer when temperatures rise.
There are many different styles of sleeveless jackets and vests in the stores/online this spring season. The go to styles this season include; many double-breasted blazer styles, long and boxy, long and fitted with a belt, denim jacket vests, leather biker vests, and military jacket styles without sleeves. So many wonderful options to choose from!
So, from my perspective, a classic trench coat should be a staple in every gal’s wardrobe. I used to have an Oasis (British Brand) Bright Green Trench coat I wore religiously and it lasted years! Sadly when we moved over to the states that jacket was cleared out to a new home. Luckily, or unluckily from my banks perspective, after researching Spring outerwear options I know exactly what I will be buying to replace that one…..it will be the sleeveless trench!
If you are looking for a deeper colour opposed to the usual beige or pastel colours then there is plenty of color out there as well. This would be a great jacket to add to your work wardrobe or paired with jeans. French A.P.C label found in select Nordstrom stores and online has followed suit and also has brought out a gorgeous burgundy trench coat which has been put straight on my wish list!
