For those of us that have followed cookbook author, Erin Hicks‘ previous collections of recipes from her popular, “Houston Classic” cookbook series and Houston Small Plates & Sips, will be ready to take on the many yummy recipes from her newest collaboration, Soups & Sips. Soup as many of us feel, is a bright spot during these dreary days of winter and after the tasting last night at Ritual Restaurant, I must say the tastings from some of the featured restaurants in the cookbook were delish!
Houston Soups & Sips is filled with 60 scrumptious recipes from first course, main courses and dessert soups. Highlights include many sought-after recipes from some of Houston’s most popular restaurants and much-loved chefs, including Justin Yu’s (Oxheart) Mushroom-Kombu; Ronnie Killen’s (Killen’s) Turkey Chili; Tortilla Soup (Grace’s); and many others including Helen Greek Food & Wine, Pax Americana, State of Grace, Caracol and many others. For this cookbook, Hicks was assisted by local food writer and culinary sidekick, Jodie Eisenhardt to showcase these ‘best of the best’ soups from our town.
