As we enter Fall season, one of my favorite and fun events from Spring has moved to September due to covid-delayed-timing. The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary’s Chic Boutique pop-up showroom is set and ready to go. This shoppers dream surrounds its annual “Reflection on Style” Fashion Show & Luncheon that like so many has gone virtual this year. The pop-up is being showcased in its brand new location on I-10 near Memorial City Mall, which gives the ladies the opportunity in its enlarged space to categorize all of its treasures into separate rooms for ease and safety of shopping. (social distancing will be easily practiced here as well as all covid protocol)
Some of the categories include it’s opening room filled with high-end designer apparel such as vintage Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Brunello Cucinelli, Prada, Louis Vuiton, Oscar de la Renta and many more featured designers. From there the rooms head into more designer with evening being featured first and then leading into casual wear. A nice add-on this year was the addition of styles from some local boutiques whose inventories have swelled greater than their sales during these difficult times…….a great way to help them move merchandise while their helping a worthy cause.
For those of you that love shoe bargains……with the new space they are able to create a “shoe department” where you can go in and try on at your leisure. After all what is greater than a shoe that has already been broken in and is still in great shape and comfy from day one! Sharing the large space with shoes is a merchandised handbag area and an enhanced children’s department specializing in infantwear…..lots to see here that this new space has allowed.
About the Salvation Army Auxiliary’s annual luncheon fashion show: The always sold out runway show and luncheon is being presented virtually this year on Wednesday, September 9 at various homes throughout River Oaks. “Reflections on Style, Eyeing Elegance with 2020 Vision is this year’s theme. Leading the helm of this coveted ticket is Deborah Dunkum. Co-chairs of the Chic Boutique are Maggie Austin and Dodi Willingham. Honoree this year is Ginger Blanton who is being honored for her generous support and longtime service commitment to the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and many other worthy organizations.
