Rolando Santana Fall Collection for NYFW inspired by 18th century Europe
Rolando Santana, a native of Mexico, is quickly becoming a favorite of many of Houston’s fashion savvy women. After showing at Fashion Houston for two years to a cheering audience and personal appearances and trunk shows at our town’s posh Elizabeth Anthony his take on feminine yet sophisticated dressing has certainly grown on me. This season is no exception. In this 18th century-inspired collection Rolando works with very regal fabric treatments that include beautiful brocades and jacquards, intricate beading and laces and many touches of fur detailing. All shown tonally from soft neutrals to jewel tones to rich midnight hues.
Rolando Santana will be here in Houston at a personal appearance to show this Fall collection and work with his new-found clientele on May 28-30 at Elizabeth Anthony. You must drop in and meet this very special man who is a genuinely nice guy that likes to chat with his patrons, listen to what they have to say and give them what they want. I found it interesting that when he was here in Spring with his Rothko-inspired collection of soft blues and mid-tone greens, he worked with several women that were wanting dyed-to-match minks to gowns/dresses and he delivered to match the dresses of that season and that collection. This season he showed much pairing of dyed-to-match furs to apparel for a very sophisticated look on the runways that will translate beautifully for the Houston fashion ladies who love to lunch by day and sip champagne by night!
A special note: when Rolando and his publicist finished two days of grueling Fashion Houston and Elizabeth Anthony trunk shows in November and wanted a bite to eat, I suggested the Bistro Menil, appropriate ending to showing his Rothko collection, don’t you think? They loved the idea of dining next door to the Rothko Chapel and loved the restaurant even more!
