Houston’s newest Mexico-imported seafood restaurant, Peska in BLVD Place, features a ceiling sculpture designed by Houston artist Alberto Bonomi that mimics a swimming school of fish.
Making its debut this week in Houston, is PESKA Seafood Culture, a concept unique to the U.S. in that brings to us from its success in its Mexico restaurants in both Mexico City and Acapulco, a concept, developed by the Ysita family, of mixing fine dining with a Seafood market. You can choose to either have a delish meal in the restaurant, that may be prepared at your table by one of their Floor Chefs (food sommeliers) or if cooking your own is your preference you can stop by the seafood market at the entrance to Peska and purchase raw seafood, fresh daily, as take-away for your own in-home dining. The dishes that we tasted, from the tostado to the fruit & flower salad and divine salt baked branzino were very memorable and would draw me back again. The closer of the evening were these wonderfully tasty mini-donuts that were a perfect ending to an amazing meal.
About the Chef: Chef Omar Pereney, relocated from Mexico City, is one of the youngest chefs in the country. Only 20 years old, the Venezuelan native began his career at age 12, hosted a Latin American television cooking show at age 15, landed his first Executive Chef position at age 16 and served as Chef Instructor at Le Cordon Bleu at 18. Whew, such talent at such a young age is difficult to comprehend!
