This week, more than 300 Houstonians came to this Little Italy-themed private grand opening of Berg Hospitality’s newest venture, bb Italian Kitchen and Bar and bb Pizza To Go benefiting the Spring Branch-Memorial Sports Association (SBMSA) and kicking off its $3.3 million capital campaign, FIELDS OF DREAMS.
The evening began when you drive in to this totally different and modern new look to an old neighborhood favorite that was once Carmelo’s. The festive party spirit was in the air as you were greeted by the sounds of a 5-piece rat pack style band and lead singers, Bob Luna and Sharon Montgomery singing Italian favorites. We were treated to so many delish lite bites of Italian classic meatballs, caprese, grandma’s ravioli, whipped ricotta toast and many more. However the big treat of the night was in the back of the restaurant where the private room was transformed to model The Feast of San Genaro in Little Italy, complete with Italian flags draping individual food booths just as they are on the streets of New York. It had it all….the food options, an indication of the menu items to come, didn’t miss a beat on authentic Italian taste. There was the stromboli, sausage and peppers, lots of Italian meats as only Berg can do and much more. My favorite of the evening was the dessert booth showcasing two of my favorite desserts…….nothing better than cannoli and zeppole!
The crowd could not have been happier again, as Ben Berg and his talented Executive Chef, brother Daniel have partnered to make one more successful eatery for this town. See below many that were there to enjoy all of the fun……
