New Year Brings New Look, New Name for J. Landa

1

Roz and I, Julie Bortnick, had a fun Friday morning last week checking out the stunning, newly renovated J. Landa store (formerly J. Silver) in Rice Village. Owner Jay Landa told us all about the renovations, his inspiration behind it, and where he sees his company and brand going in the future. Above, Roz and I layering up in some of our favorite new creations at the store from designer, Chan Luu. 2

From the show stopping chandeliers to the wood floors, custom made jewelry cases, and the pop of color (turquoise door), it immediately elevates the shopping experience in this fabulous little jewelry shop in the Rice Village. Landa let his interior designer run with his ideas, and he is extremely happy with the final product. It captures his vision perfectly. 3

While we were at the store on Friday, there was a Chan Luu pop up shop taking place, and Roz and I couldn’t stop shopping (perks of being a blogger). J. Landa will still carry Chan Luu (he is one of the top 3 Chan Luu retailers in the country, as we learned in Roz’s previous article), Alexis Bittar, Uno de 50, Dogeared, his own line J. Silver, and other fan favorites. Something new he is doing, though, is an Emerging Designers Lab, which gives newer jewelry designers a chance to have a trunk show in Landa’s space, and the possibility of their line being carried in the store down the road. 4

Landa wants to expand his brand nationally and internationally. He wants to be a global brand. His lease was up for renewal, and when thinking about his next move, he decided a head to toe store makeover was exactly what the doctor ordered. He wants to take his brand to the next level, and so he is on his way.(note: another example above of new direction in beading and stones that Chan Luu is taking!) 5 6 7Chan Luu, Dian Malouf, and Alexis Bittar new pieces, including Chan Luu cashmere scarves in an array of fashion colors. 8
