Summertime in H-town is not usually a time for many new retail openings but this summer a couple of fresh shopping options are making their debut onto the Houston fashion scene. I must say that in a summer that has been cut short for me, personally, due to my travel abroad and fitting in all of my moving duties as I prepare for my next and final move, I haven’t been making my way around the retail scene as I usually would have but plan on making these two newbies a soon-to-be stop on my retail tour.
M.M. Lafleur….
New York-based women’s clothing brand and styling service M.M. Lafleur, which first came onto the Houston scene as a pop-up back in Fall of 2018 has put down its roots for a permanent space in our city. The buzzy brand which is known for its practical but inspired designs targeted for the female professional, has recently debuted its retail showroom at Uptown’s Post Oak Central Campus. Houston will be its seventh U.S. showroom…..joining the ranks of its sister locations in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and Washington D.C.
Launched in 2013 by Sara LaFleur, Narie Foster and Miyako Nakamura, formerly of Zac Posen, LaFleur was founded with the goal of helping women to harness the power of self-presentation and to rethink the shopping process altogether, taking the work out of dressing for work. Nakamura, Creative Director, has designed a tightly curated collection of sophisticated silhouettes that are perfect for the workplace and to accomodate the travel needs of many professional women. Many of the brand’s selections are machine washable, wrinkle resistant and can be found in sizes from 0 to 22W. A feature that has been synonomous with the brand is personal styling support which is at its core. M.M. LaFleur is located in the Post Oak Central Campus in the Galleria area.
Moreau Paris…..
The Parisian luxury leather goods house, Moreau Paris, debuted their first Texas flagship in the River Oaks District on July 17 where it will remain in the district for one year.
Dating back to the days of Napoléon, the Parisian brand is best known for its signature Moreau Print, which is highlighted in stitching techniques and materials. Moreau is most known for its iconic tote bag, the Brégancon. This bag is named for their most famous client, Robert Bellanger, the last private tenant of the Brégancon castle in the Côte d’Azur. The brand now consists of a range of leather goods, luggage and accessories which can all be customized by way of monograms, stripes and hand painted special drawings. The 1152 sq. ft. pop-up is open now in the River Oaks District.
