There is nothing I love more than holidays with my family…….that’s how I was raised and for me that’s how it’s supposed to be. Things may be different, very different this holiday, as the world is far from normal. One thing is for certain and that is that we need to make this a day of Joy and for me that centers around the Joy of being with those special people in my life that have made me a Mom and a Nonni! I want to celebrate for me just being a Mom to my two girls, Nicole and Crystin, which has been the highlight of my life…….nothing comes close!
Today, for me, is also a reflection of my own Mom up in heaven and the Joy she brought into my life and now fills my memories. After all, she is the one that taught me how to be a Mom and as I gratefully said to her in her lifetime……”I can only hope that my kids feel the same love and gratitude for me that I have always felt for you.” I have missed her so much more recently and have wondered what guidance she would be giving me during these stressful times.
So today let us focus on being together, no matter what medium it will be. I’m starting my day with a zoom call, then a Mother’s Day lunch that will have fewer attendees than usual and end with a drive-by of my grandkids and treasure the joy that they bring. Each of these new adventures today will all have one thing in common…….lots of love to share.
After all, the silver lining is that we are all safe, healthy and to stay that way, have worked on being very creative and very careful on how we share our love and communication with one another.
So once more I Salute the Moms…….During these trying times that we all have been living in, no one has had more of a burden to carry than the Moms in our world. For many already busy, time-starved women out there, extra roles have been added to her daily chore list. She has been the home-maker, the WFH (work from home) gal and in many cases the teacher she never knew she could be. Of course, for many courageous strong women out there that are also first responders, health care workers and/or doctors their days must be overwhelming!
“Motherhood is the hardest job in the world, but it’s also the greatest job in the world. Nothing else even comes close to impacting our world. Nothing.” a quote from Maria Shriver in this morning’s Sunday Paper and I couldn’t agree with her more.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Moms out there. Here’s sending you my love and gratitude for all that you do!
xoxo
