This Monique Lhuillier liquid satin gown in pewter was one of several metallics that have Red Carpet written all over them. What made this a favorite of mine was the tonal approach to embellished mink and serious beading at the neckline.
To take from her liner notes because Monique says it so beautifully, “this collection plays on the juxtaposition of masculine versus feminine for effortless sophistication. Fluid silhouettes inspired by the 1920’s are contrasted by modern, structured shoulders and tailoring to create dramatic lines.” Also, did I mention that Kate Moss was Monique’s Muse for this collection?!
It was all there for me…rich jeweled tones, black is there but primarily replaced by deep plum and midnight for glamorous mystique. The entire collection was presented in such a subdued, dark and mysterious way that I found myself engrossed into what I would be seeing next.
There were so many design details from star-embellished tulle, shimmering evening gowns in exquisite embroideries, prints, shimmer gowns, furs…..so much to see and the beauty is that the presentation, which unique to my viewing, was set in a way that the audience sat to one side of the house and the other was dedicated to subdued, sophisticated risers that the models approached after their runway walk…..a stunning way to view a collection of such diversity in its entirety. It was a unique collection for Monique, shown in a very unique way….I loved it and would challenge other designers to do the same for their audience!
Also, this the launch of Monique’s Accessory collection which includes sandals, boots, booties and many clutch styles in exotic gemstones, fur and lucite. They were presented on the runway as you will see from one of the images below.

Monique Lhuillier introduces her Accessories collection on the runway….Handbags & Footwear
One of the most dramatic runway shows I’ve seen…..Monique’s models, walked the catwalk and then paraded up to position on the risers facing the audience until all were in place. A magnificent way to bring the finale to closure by seeing all her designs at once on risers and then on cue, walking down together to the audience. Very impressive and beautifully orchestrated panoramic view of the collection!
