What a delightful time last week when Mendocino Farms previewed its newest step outside of California with Houston’s first restaurant opening in the Rice Village coming this Thursday, July 18. This first expansion for the restaurant group is opening several locations here to follow, with a vision of creating a welcoming neighborhood gathering place for Houstonians that are longing for premium casual dining. No better place to open this than one of the more popular family-oriented areas in the city, the Rice Village District, that appeals to all.
Known for their delicious sandwiches and salads made with high-quality, responsibly sourced ingredients, Del Pero teamed up with our town’s own James Beard award winning and ever-so-popular Chris Shepherd on an exclusive sandwich collaboration for Grand Opening Month. 100% of the proceeds from purchase of that sandwich will benefit Shepherd’s Southern Smoke Foundation charity.
“I founded Southern Smoke to take care of our own,” said Shepherd. “I’m proud to say we have donated more than $1.3 million to help support people in our industry. Partnering with Mendocino Farms on a sandwich that gives back to Southern Smoke was a no-brainer for me. I fully support any initiative designed to raise money for this cause, and especially love that Mendocino Farms’ mission statement aligns so perfectly with ours.”
The Rice Village menu offers a little something for everyone and is enhanced by a curated 10-handle beer menu featuring selections from St. Arnold’s and other local breweries and extensive wine choices available by the glass. Diners can choose from delish seasonal offerings, signature sandwiches and inspiring entree salads. See below some of the varied selection……most of which I have tasted and anxious to try more…….
