Make the Perfect Transition…to Fall that is!

Kids are going back to school next week, Labor Day is around the corner, and before you know it, it will be fall! Unfortunately for us Houstonians the temps don’t drop until November, which can be tough when it comes to summer to fall transitional dressing. We are very jealous of those of you living in cities with normal seasons! It’s Alyssa here chatting with you about my best tips for making the easy transition from summer to fall, with your wardrobe that is!

1. Rework your summer dress with some layering!
Get more mileage out of your summer dress (especially if it was a splurge) with a little layering. Instead of throwing on a jacket or sweater,  put a strappy or short dress over a t-shirt, button down, or turtleneck.

2. Break out your boots!
Footwear is one of the easiest ways to transition your wardrobe and boots are by far the most versatile shoe to do so. I’m not talking just tall boots – ankle boots, peep toe booties, and combat boots are great. Wear them with skirts, jeans, shorts, dresses – the options are endless!

3. Tights are your friend!
Rework your mini skirt by pairing it with tights, or throw on a long summer tunic over a pair. Stay cool by wearing lighter layers on the top! Tip: Invest in a good pair that will last you through fall and winter.

4. The Jumpsuit – enough said!
You’ve already got the pants on the bottom, all you have to do is throw on blazer or sweater when the temps drop. So easy & effortless!

5. Incorporate berry tones!
Instead of layering or playing with hemlines, add in plum, raspberry, and other berry shades to your wardrobe to bring in the fall vibe. Totally doable even when its 90 degrees in November!

6. When in doubt, throw on a leather jacket!
Chic, effortless, and a must-have for your fall wardrobe. Go for one in a lightweight leather (or faux leather!) and with a thin lining – you don’t want leather directly on skin, especially in warm weather!
