For her Spring 2015 NYFW Collection, former Texan, Lela Rose, looked to Japan and to its traditional Japanese garment, the Kimono for her inspiration. Rose, known for her very popular, always-feminine take on fashion that so many of us love to wear, has taken this traditional style, modernized it and taken key elements from it, such as its fabrics, pattens, textures and techniques for her most recent collection. The end result were groupings that I have highlighted below of pattern combos, exaggerated dots, water-print florals and wood-cut designs to name just a few.
There were lots of Black & White looks that led the show, always a personal favorite of mine for any season, with spots of hot hues such as fuchsia, citrine and cerulean and ending with beautiful three-dimensional beading, embroidery and metallic brush strokes that made these looks so special.
A few extra tidbits on Lela Rose is that she has just announced a plus-size collection for Lane Bryant that will be in stores in the coming year and if anyone else besides myself was near a TV on Sunday in New York and able to see the show, OPEN HOUSE, featured Lela’s magnificent lower Manhattan town home, complete with dance floor, tequila bar and red carpeted larger-than-life closet!
