After posting this story on the then soon-to-be-reopened La Table restaurant last Sunday (Nov.15), I was invited by its GM, Valerio Lombardozzi to a most entertaining night of dining on the newly revamped menu. Valerio and his waiter, Ciro, both Italians here directly from some of my favorite areas of Italy………Rome and Amalfi Coast respectively, the suggestions were well taken and the energy and service was superb!! They were all so excited to be back in business after seven months and from the chatter that I could hear from the surrounding tables, many of their regulars were also thrilled to be back as well. The following are some of my IPhone photos of our evening dining on French fare with the guidance of my new Italian friends.
As with many Houston restaurants, due to the pandemic, doors were shut and some unfortunately weren’t reopened. So we couldn’t be more excited to let you know that one of our favorites is reopened and better than ever.
La Table had shut down in March and officially reopened its doors on November 18th. This modern, french-inspired restaurant has a refreshed concept, a new menu, and a newly redesigned outdoor patio perfect for al fresco dining.
While the restaurant was closed, they focused on what they could do to improve this already beloved Houston hotspot.
La Table’s Executive Chef Stephen Conklin collaborated with Bastion Chef and Partner Jonathan Benno and Bastion Executive Pastry Chef Salvatore Martone to develop the new menu with a focus on utilizing the finest-quality ingredients from local artisans, ranchers and producers to create a seasonal, French-inspired menu.
“This year has been a challenge not only for our industry, but for the entire world,” said Antonio Begonja, Chief Operating Officer of Bastion.“We used the time to find the efficiencies in our operations, improve and refresh the concept and make it more approachable for the community in Houston. We want to bring the best of La Table back to the community and create a fun environment for all to enjoy.”
Menu highlights include appetizers such as French Onion Soup with braised beef shank, caramelized onions and gruyère croûton, and Pâtéde Campagne with pickled vegetables and grilled country bread, entrées such as Steak & Frites, Red Snapper with shrimp, fennel, peppers, picholine olives, saffron broth and rouilleand Fried Heritage Chicken à l’Anglaise served with creamed spinach, mushrooms and sauce supreme, among many other delicious starters, entrees, desserts, and drinks. The entire menu will also be available for to-go orders.
Along with the new menu, customers will enjoy La Table’s newly redesigned outdoor patio. Reminiscent of a summer garden, the outdoor patio invites guests to a relaxed and comfortable al fresco dining experience all year long.
We are SO excited to welcome La Table back to the Houston restaurant scene and we can’t wait to dine there soon……..we visited the newly re-opened restaurant this Friday, November 20!
We were planning to dine there tomorrow night but found they are closed on Monday’s, FYI. Will try again!
Oh, sorry about that……do try it, the food was excellent and the service was great, very enthusiastic!!
