Holidays are here and as everyone knows, they are like no others that we have ever experienced. The hours of cooking your family’s favorite dishes in the kitchen is not a reality this year. Primarily because there won’t be family gatherings and also, in our case, it’s another opportunity to support our local restaurants and let them and their eager workers prepare our meals. So unlike in the past, a new step in the planning process for holiday meals, will include either taking your place in line or in anticipation of a food delivery. (either way, it goes without saying to please help these workers out with a nice holiday tip!!).
First is Passover that begins tonight……this special Jewish holiday that our family has always cherished as one of our favorite family gatherings but this year, we will do it alone as social distancing is separating us from being together. Could we have done it by Zoom, it was a thought, but probably not workable for our four and five year old grands who are only somewhat present for our daily face times. So in our efforts to support our local restaurant friends, I am not cooking this year and have turned to our friends at Tony’s for our complete Passover Seder meal, which they are delivering to our home, so no restaurant lines for this one.
Then there is Easter Sunday…….so many of our favorite restaurants offering delish classic dishes…..both heavily weighted to savory and sweet (yummy desserts have definitely gotten my attention!). Also they are offering accomodating times, in most cases starting as early as Thursday pick-up and heading throughout the holiday weekend. Advise to the wise here is to place your order early as most restaurants are asking for 24 hours for advance ordering.
Following are just some of the highlights of the offerings from some of Houston’s finest…..
