Whether you are going to a beach or to the ski slopes for spring break this year, the sun will be out in full force. It’s fun to lay out and swim or ski and snowboard, but the sun can be damaging no matter the temperature outside. Before you head off on your travels, don’t forget to pack the essentials for a ‘fun in the sun’ vacation, including sunscreen! Lots and lots of sunscreen.

If you’ve already done your time in the sun, Dr. Angela has some ways to correct those ‘issues’ for the sun worshipper.
Take it away, Dr. Angela……(in her own words)
Frequently, I see people who think that they want a facelift because they want to look refreshed. In truth, what would be more beneficial for them is to address the skin texture and sun damage. If what you see are fine lines, the appearance of “heavy” skin and brown spots, rather than extra skin, you may want to think about skin resurfacing.
Facial skin resurfacing can be accomplished with peels or lasers. For both of these options, it is very important to make sure that your physician performs the recommended procedure on a regular basis. Both peels and lasers remove the sun damaged skin so that new skin can replace it. Peels depend on the chemicals to interact with your skin and remove specific layers.
Lasers can be either “nonablative” or “ablative”. Nonablative lasers include the “lunch time lasers” (IPL) or Fraxel Dual. These have low downtime (1-5 days) and less risk, as a result their results are not as dramatic as the “ablative” lasers.
The “ablative” lasers include CO2 and YAG. You will need about 2 weeks of recovery time, but these can give you brand-new skin where the brown spots and wrinkles are virtually gone!
