Whether you like it or not, summer is around the corner (its arrived early here in Houston actually). While summer may bring a casual vibe, step up your shoe game instead of breaking out the flip flops! For all the shoe-lovers, it’s Alyssa here with the hottest shoe styles of the summer both on the runway and off – slides, espadrilles, and flatforms.
SLIDES
While it may be known as the slipper or shower slide, these shoes are so much more than that. “Slide” into summer with the hottest shoe style of the season!
The flat sandal of the season a few years ago was the Birkenstock (still a favorite of mine), and this year its the embellished, embroidered, and brightly colored slide. You can find them in fabrics like suede and embroidered canvas and with details like fringe and pearls. The flat slide can be paired with anything from fringe jeans to flowy dresses, and are great for adding a little comfort to your work wardrobe. The Aquazzura Wild Thing Suede Slide is at the top of my wish list!
ESPADRILLES
The espadrille is a go-to shoe summer after summer, and for 2017 its been updated into a flat!
Don’t think of these as “just for the beach” shoes. Espadrilles easily transition from day to night, especially when this season they are in luxe fabrics like leather and suede. You can find styles with an ankle strap, a wedge, or that even lace up. The espadrille gives off a boho vibe and goes great with everything from cut off shorts to summer dresses.T
FLATFORMS
The flatform – a flat + platform combined. This popular style from last summer is still going strong, especially since you get all the height with none of the discomfort!
You can find this style in a sneaker-platform hybrid, lace up, OR combine all three summer shoe trends with a flatform slide with espadrille sole!
