From last night’s Emmy Awards, the newest, freshest looks of the evening were the many takes on tea length dressing….ankles were the hotspot of the evening. Both ladies above, wearing Calvin Klein by Appointment exemplify a trend that Raf Simons has an apparent belief in for all ages!
As the Fall Award season kicked off last night with the 69th Annual Emmy Awards, the fashion was very, very strong. What I was particular taken with was the newness and sophistication that we saw on the Red Carpet that reflects many of the season’s top trends and hottest new designers.
A few of the biggest trends of the evening were first, my favorite, tea length dressing, as I like to think of it….whether truly a tea length or cropped just above the ankle, it was a very sophisticated look from various designers and a great night for shoe designers as they finally can get some true recognition on the carpet. Another sophisticated trend that I felt was dominant was the ‘covered up’ look….high necks, lots of long sleeves, not necessarily together but a sharp contrast to the plunging necklines (they were there) that looked old to me on the fashion carpet. The colors of the night were in the RED family, from true Red (Nicole Kidman, Issa Rae) to blush (Thandie Newton, Elizabeth Moss) and hot pinks (Jane Fonda) to a deep, rich shade of eggplant that was worn by Debra Messing, Kyra Sedgwick, Lea Michelle. There was, as always some great black dresses, head-to-toe white and of course, always black with white. Another trend that crossed many silhouette lines was Shimmer and Shine….lots of metallics, glitter or sequins.
Below, our favorites from last night’s Emmy Awards…..a beautiful guide for social dressing for the coming months.
