Hi gals! Nicole here again from Lipstick and Brunch updating you on the latest trends in seasonal beauty and in this occasion we’ll be discussing a topic I’ve dipped my fingers in for quite a long time (no pun intended): nails! I love that nail art is so mainstream now and a way to express your style whether it be a flashy or more subdued design.
I follow a few inspirational nail accounts on Instagram such as @paintboxnails, @cndworld and @astrowifey. Their nail designs are art and when you think that these intricate designs are drawn within a millimeter of nail, it’s even more impressive.
Here’s some nail trends I spotted while researching Spring?Summer 2018 nail trends on runways and popular Instagram accounts. There are a few here that I can’t wait to try at my next mani appointment. Which one would you try?
Minimal Line
Backstage at Kate Spade New York, Deborah Lipmann created one single line on nude-pink nails and it looked chic. This single line was also present on Phillip Lim’s runway model and at Tibi.
Bold Color
Runway models at Jeremy Scott had orange nails in an unlikely matte polish and I’m all for it. Matte nail polish is still one I can’t find at my local nail shop? Have you tried it? Cristian Siriano who is always very colorful in his fashion designs had his models wearing a tweed pattern in bright polish shades.
Metallic
Oscar de la Renta had models sporting classic gold nails while Naeem Khan had his models in a stunning, icy silver with crystals. Try a rose gold on your nails with glitter to glam up your look.
Classic Red
Red is timeless and always look elegant on short nails. Blumarine and Giorgio Armani had this high energy shade on their models and it’s the color I”m crushing on right now.
Monochrome
For this look at Rebecca Minkoff, a shiny purple was used as a base and then a metallic purple was used to create a triangle on the nails. This is a great DIY nail idea to try at home!
Negative Space
One trend I noticed across the board on the Instagram accounts and runway models was the negative/clear space on the nail art. I’m personally drawn to this trend.
Colored Stripe
Another minimal way to add color is to opt for a very thin and colorful strip at the tip of your nails (think French Manicure). I loved this look at the Alice and Olivia models.
Love the red lipstick; always has been my favorite. I always feel “washed” out when I wear a light lipstick!
