The 10th Anniversary of The Houston Sweetheart tea was celebrated at Saks Fifth Avenue this year and as a special tribute to this anniversary honored 10 of Houston’s Sweetheart ICONS.
The ICONS honored were: Rose Cullen, Paige Fertitta, Joanne King Herring, Trini Mendenhall, Sybil Roos, Joan Schnitzer, Phoebe Tudor, Margaret Williams and Martha Turner (absent due to illness).
Hostesses for the annual tea are: Anne Carl, Deborah Duncan, Sylvia Forsythe, Kim Moody, Warner Roberts and Alicia Smith.
This party was a huge success with over 100 friends of these fabulous women showing up to Saks’ First Floor wearing their favorite festive colors of the holiday…..Valentine Red or Pink. The beauty of the day was not only showing our support for all of these ladies but also to support the charity that is near and dear to founder, Warner Roberts heart….The Mission of Yahweh homeless shelter for women and children.
Making the presentation so much fun, each ICON was asked a few of the same questions as they were presented by M.C./Hostess Deborah Duncan. A sampling of the questions were: What are the causes that make your heart beat? If you could solve any problem in Houston what would it be?? The last one brought a cheer from ICON/Honoree Paige Fertitta as she and Deborah agreed that a Houston Rockets Championship would be a great solution!!
Some of the guests there to celebrate the honorees and all decked out in their Valentine’ hues were: Bobbie Nau, Gracie Cavnar, Monica Hartland, Elsie Eckert, Trish Morille, Carol Sawyer, Leila Gilbert, Mary Ann McKeithan, Beth Wolff, Phyllis Williams, Sonia Soto, Kim Padgett, Scott Evans, Bruce Padilla, Paul-David Van Atta and many more.
I think that all present would agree that the highlight of the afternoon was when the fellow Hostesses surprised Warner Roberts with the honor of ICON herself. It was an emotional moment when she was acknowledged by all as the person loved by all and known for both her ‘hearts’ and her heart!

You girls look adorable and classy at the same time! I loved the red theme. What’s even better is you added a noble cause to the celebration. It makes the ceremony ten times better. More power to you all!
