Brandon Maxwell….One of the Hottest New Designers Visits Houston

Brandon Maxwell came to town to headline, with his awesome Spring and Fall Collections, for the Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation Gala and P.A. and Trunk show in Saks Houston Galleria

Brandon Maxwell, is definitely thought of to be one of the top new designers around these days.  He started out and is still possibly best known as a celebrity stylist with his number One client, being Lady Gaga. However since he introduced his collection for Spring 2016 he has garnered the following of such celebrities beside GaGa of such powerhouse women as FLOTUS, Michele Obama, Brooke Shields, model faves, Gigi Hadid and Naomi Campbell and stars such as Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington, whose maternity dress by this designer for the most recent Emmy’s was one I will always remember.

As he said here in Houston, he has always been thought of as a celebrity stylist although he does not live in L.A. but in NYC and really only inherited one major client, from his mentor, Nicola Formichetti who was GaGa’s stylist during her ‘meat dress’ era. For Brandon, who says he adores GaGa and they are great friends, had a somewhat different vision for his collection. His goal to appeal to powerhouse women such as many I’ve mentioned above. He is quick to say that he is not a technical designer as he learned his technique of pinning and fitting through styling. He says that he learned by experience and not through the classroom. His cuts, however, are very elegant and well-tailored and draped pieces. He is self-taught, self-funded Texan (from Longview) who loves Texas women the most and who definitely means business.
