Few things can get you “back in the saddle” fashion wise like a brand new pair of Cowboy Boots, so with that in mind we have been keeping a close eye as this staple of Western Wear continues to keep trending on our social media feeds well into the Fall season. Whether you are a fan of the above the knee, classic or contemporary styles, cowboy boots have been taking back runways this year from Calvin Klein to Balenciaga to Isabel Marant, showing us that every woman (or man for that matter) can rock a pair. With Rodeo season right around the corner, there is no time like the present to pick up a new custom made pair.
When it comes to successfully rocking a cowboy boot, first and foremost be sure to think carefully about your favorite color scheme, material choice and heel height, keeping in mind what you want to wear them with. A good pair of cowboy boots can be a serious fashion investment, and the right pair can not only accentuate an ensemble, but also function as a statement piece to build an entire outfit around. Cowboy boots are versatile enough to wear all year round even in the Texas heat, as you can pair them with leggings, jeans, dresses and for those who dare to go bare, even skin on skin works in pulling off this trend.

Here in Houston we are lucky to have some of the best Cowboy Boot makers in the business right in our backyard with companies like Lucchese (Bootmaker) and Black Jack Boots, both out of El Paso.
With a rich heritage going back over 100 years, if you love Cowboy Boots, you know the name Lucchese. To coincide with launch of their new Fall 2017 Collection, they teamed up with Killen’s to host a “Give Cancer The Boot” preview event at their Highland Village location with some of their most seasoned experts on hand to talk about all things Fall. We stopped by to get the scoop from Maegan Hulme, Director of Merchandising, on this seasons must have items and styles.
For men, one of Maegen’s must have items in their new collection is the Sawyer, a limited release traditional western boot with simple, modern details available in the following color combinations: Tan & Cognac, Black & Cognac and Snuff/Medium Brown& Chocolate.

For women, with the growing trend of smaller, more tapered boot opening is making its way into the fall season and the Zita is a must have classic ankle boot made of python coming in both red and berry blue with an Ombre finish.
Trend wise, the folks at Lucchese are loving the 17 inch high Cowboy Boot, according to Maegan the best way to wear any of their boots is with the “Cowboy Suit” aka jeans, a belt, button down and a jacket of choice; she likes hers with some fringe.

A family business going back to 1996, the Guerra’s over at Black Jack also recently launched a new collaboration with fine Western Wear retailer Pinto Ranch (home to the largest collection of handmade cowboy boots in the US). We stopped by their boot launch event earlier this month to get a look at some of the exclusive selections for both men and women, ranging in price from $495 to $995 a pair. Particular standouts for us were the eastern rattlesnake and the caiman crocodile skins, some new eye stealing ostrich patterns like Style #973 and the pirarucu fish in Style #776.
Just like a great pair of jeans, the team behind Black Jack wants their customers to feel like every boot is a second skin. They custom order each pair from start to finish, with the entire process taking around 4-6 weeks from start to sliding your feet into your brand new boots. The combination of Pinto’s passion with the Guerra family’s love of craftsmanship shines through the entire line ensuring Houstonian’s can always put their best boot first.
