The Shop at Bayou Bend is reopening and relocating, moving from the Lora Jean Kilroy Visitor and Education Center to the charming cottage by the historic Bayou Bend mansion at 6003 Memorial Drive.
The reopening will offer visitors the opportunity to acquire objects associated with the Hogg family. A select number of 20th-century sterling silver, ceramic, glass, and linen items descended from the Hogg family and given to Bayou Bend will be on view at the Bayou Bend Visitor Center from Tuesday, May 1, through Friday, May 4, before moving to the cottage on Saturday, May 5. Sealed bids for these items will only be accepted on site while items are on view. The highest bid for each item or grouping of items will be announced on Sunday, May 6, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Visitors can also browse new merchandise—garden accessories, jewelry,
clothing, stationery, and more—during the first weekend at the shop’s beautiful new setting. The Shop at Bayou Bend features unique products at all price ranges that reflect the quality, craftsmanship, and beauty of Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. Proceeds from purchases and the sealed bids support Bayou Bend’s operations andprograms. The shop’s inventory changes often for tourists as well as Houstonians looking for distinctive and special gifts.
