B.B. Lemon-Montrose, the newest venture from Ben Berg, Houston’s hottest dining visionary, is very exciting for all of us that live and thrive in the inner loops of our city. For me, it’s so in keeping with this New Yorkesque restaurant to say that it is so close to our new high-rise home that I can walk there and have already……who does that in Houston, Texas!!? Everything about the new B.B. Lemon location is just the way Ben likes it…..the old Pax Americana site, a building with charm(no strip center restaurants for this guy!), is detailed to resemble his original take on NYC casual dining (JG Melon’s). It is an elevated eatery and bar offering Houstonians a casual, cozy, neighborhood spot featuring those dishes that blend the best of Berg’s favorite cities, Houston and New York.
More than 100 Houstonians came out to the soft opening of B.B. Lemon’s Montrose location benefiting the Lawndale Art Center. Attendees were given the option to support the contemporary art center through a minimum $50 gift or more. With each donation, guests received special B.B. Lemon branded coup glass with a choice of two specialty cocktails by Beverage Director Monique Cioffi-Hernandez that created some very select, special Montrose only drinks. Guests were invited to nosh on passed hors d-oeuvres…..all mini versions of the tasty B.B. Lemon menu. (see photos below of these delish menu items by Executive Chef Emily Tusler). Music was presented by D.J. and Flashdrive, which included an awesome all-evening performance by three string players that treated us all to delightful contemporary tunes in their unqiue way.
