Model wearing couture gown by Rubin Singer in a paint brush printed fabric designed exclusively by the Designer
Third generation Russian Couture Designer, Rubin Singer, made his second appearance in two years on Wednesday night of Fashion Houston. I was so impressed by my interview with him in 2012 and since he has had some significant celebrity and red carpet exposure not least of which was the design of Beyonce’s Superbowl Half-time ensemble for 2013. I felt that an update with him was due. I was anxious to visit with him once again at Neiman Marcus for a luncheon/capsule fashion show that highlighted many of the spectacular pieces I had viewed on the catwalk the evening before. It was wonderful to be so upclose and personal with both the designer and his creations. As a lover of product or in this case amazing designs, it was wonderful to hear the stories behind each piece. Singer, whose collection is conceptualized totally by him is made in NYC, where he has creative control of every step in the couture process from designing of the fabrics (one fabric took two years to come to fruition!) to initial draping of and fitting of the garment.
Aside from the impact of the Tribal-themed Pre-Fall 2015 Collection dominated by black and black and white pieces, it was a great surprise for us to be able to see this first hand and exclusively two weeks early. He should be beginning to show to buyers this week.
