Local Houston designer, Amir Taghi, back in town for the summer from his busy year abroad studying at the famed, Central St. Marten’s College of Art & Desgn, London, is off again, this time to do 4 years at Parsons to get his Bachelors Degree and live the life in NYC before starting what we know will be a grand career!
Lucky me, that Amir Taghi took a few minutes to stop by the Pactor Group offices on Tuesday to say good-by before he left the very next day for Parson School of Design in NYC. It was a great moment for me to catch up, share some starbucks and have him explain just what he is doing in getting his design life started in what we all know will be a big way!
He spent his year at Central St. Marten’s, school to Alexander McQueen, Zac Posen, John Galliano and many more. However, as he explained, the first year, known as the Foundation year is just that…..you study the basic which build your foundation for design. After that year is completed you can choose to either stay there or move on to another school and Amir made that choice to move on to Parsons, be in that dynamic city and hopefully get the opportunities to work with some of the American NY greats through internships or working and learning experiences that would increase his exposure. Wise move, we think!
He has worked at The Webster boutique this summer and it was such a great learning experience from Laure and her team that he will be continuing to work with them from afar and also when in town for holiday breaks.
It was great to see Amir and have the chance to visit and catch up…..I know that I was a little confused as to his design career strategy as were others and this straightened it all out for all of us. We wish him the best and will continue to follow his progress, step-by-step, and through offering him our best thoughts as he progresses forward.

Also, if you would’t be inclined to notice on Amir’s footsies are the infamous Yeezy shoes by Kanya West for Adidas. Whether you’re a fan or not…..they are one of the hottest shoes and harder to get. In fact, Amir says that only The Webster has them in Houston!!!?
